Marlin Bates is the county extension director for Douglas County. His office is in Lawrence. He talks with us about developing and sticking to your passion; how specialization helps extension professionals make an impact in a community; and how he focuses on development with his staff. We also get to know Marlin a little bit, including his appreciation of flying, his commitment to being a great father and his appreciation of the book “A Sand County Almanac” by Aldo Leopold.
